***South East Open Studios***

**Cancelled due to Covid – 19**

As all our lives are now being affected by this awful virus, I never imagined I’d be writing my blog in the midst of a pandemic that is changing everything that we do. Life as we know it is disappearing and by staying in we are saving lives.

I shall miss Open Studios, as it’s not just a platform for selling your work and taking commissions but also a valuable and very rewarding way of meeting new people and networking with other artists. Now, we have to find ways to socially distance ourselves and communicate with friends, family and work colleagues remotely. Unless of course, you are a frontline worker in the NHS or key worker keeping the food chain functioning and taking care of vulnerable people, young and old.

This year would have been my 5thSouth East Open Studios and I have learnt over the years that preparation is key to hosting a successful open studios! Consequently, I’ve been making work since January to give myself plenty of time to create a collection of ready-made sculptures to sell. Some examples of my new range of pebble sculptures are featured here on the left, including a vintage ceramic Goldfinch that used to belong to my paternal grandmother.

In order to stop the spread of this dreadful virus, we must stay indoors and find creative ways to amuse ourselves and keep well. We know what to do, so let’s do it and protect others and the NHS frontline.
