Let’s dig it for the birth of Mosaic Mum!
As this is my first blog post on my new website, I thought I’d start at the very beginning and to echo the dulcet tones of Julie Andrews…a very good place to start!
Although I’ve been an artist and maker all my life, I’ve only discovered my niche in recent years and I felt it was about time I built a brand for my mosaic business.
In contrast to being a visual artist, I’m also a professional portrait and lifestyle photographer and I spent many months trying to figure out a way of combining my two businesses and forming one identity.
However, it was impossible to reconcile both creative strands to my life, as they are simply polar opposites!!!
Hence this new website and branding which was born out of a nick name that my children gave me when I first started making mosaics, 10 years ago. Endearingly they called me Mosaic Mum and it has stuck to this day.
It has been a very long process getting to this point but finally, here I am, showcasing my ‘vintage homeware’ range and with a web presence to feel proud of.
None of the above would have been possible without the help of my lovely designer friend, Laura Alder, and the boys at EngineRoom Websites – many thanks guys, you have all been a delight to work with.
